National Novel Writing Month

Posted to 12/01/2016  |  Back

NaNoWriMo is a worldwide writing event in which participants challenge themselves to write a 50,000 word novel during the month of November.

Valuing enthusiasm, determination, and a deadline, NaNoWriMo is for anyone who has ever thought about writing a novel.

Beginning 28 October and lasting through the end of November, the library will be hosting a series of in-library and virtual "write-in" events to help participants reach their 50,000-word goal.  Check the NaNoWriMo LibGuide for event dates and details.

Sign up in the library or email Sherry Packard with the subject “NaNoWriMo” to be added to the mailing list for information about upcoming events.

To participate nationally you can sign up with NaNoWriMo’s official site by following these easy steps:

  1. Fill out your profile at nanowrimo.org. A completed profile enables like-minded writers to connect with you.
  2. Create your novel.
  3. Select your region. Choose a home region to get updates on local events from your volunteer Municipal Liaison. Once you’ve selected your region, your Regional Lounge will appear with the forums.
