Citation Management Through RefWorks

RefWorks is an online bibliographic management program that allows users to create a personal database of references and generate bibliographies in a variety of formats. This organizational and time-saving tool will enable you to:

  • Quickly add/import and manage citations for articles and other resources you use in your research

  • Create and export bibliographies in all major styles (MLA, APA, Turabian, Chicago, etc.) 

  • Use RefShare to share your RefWorks library or specific folders with others

  • Cite resources while you write using Write-n-Cite


Accessing RefWorks

There are two versions of RefWorks that currently run parallel with one another. 

For new users, create an account using New RefWorks. To set up an account either on campus or off-campus, use your Fitchburg State University email address. Consult the Using New RefWorks research guide for more information on how to maxmize your use of New RefWorks. 

RefWorks Legacy users will be able to access their account until January 2019 but have the option to migrate their citations to New RefWorks at any time. The Using Legacy RefWorks research guide provides more information about this product. 

NOTE: Popups must be enabled for both versions of RefWorks to work properly.
