The Community Read Committee is excited to offer our first event on Wednesday, February 3 at 3:30PM.

This year's book is Underland by Robert Macfarlane. Check to see if a copy of the book is available for checkout from the Library here.

Join the Fitchburg State and greater Fitchburg communities for a discussion of Part I of the book - Seeing (pages 1-116) - which explores the "Underlands" of Britain, from thinking about burial practices, to searching for the existence of dark matter, to considering the complexity of the root systems of forests.

Professors Steve Edwards (English Studies), Chris Picone (Biology & Chemistry), Ben Railton (English Studies), Collin Syfert (English Studies), Kisha Tracy (English Studies), and Diego Ubiera (English Studies) will lead our discussion that explores the major insights and stakes of MacFarlane's timely work.
