The Library supports parents, guardians and caregivers of children in their academic pursuits and welcomes them to bring their children into the library provided they are under appropriate supervision during their visit.
Library staff are not licensed caregivers and cannot supervise unattended children. In the interest of the child’s safety, children under the age of 14 should not be left unsupervised.
If a library staff member is alerted to the presence of an unattended child, the child will be escorted to the library public services office where public services staff will determine next steps. Should the adult responsible for the child’s welfare not be present, a staff member will ask the child to leave. If the child is too young to safely leave unescorted, staff will contact Campus Police to report the situation and seek assistance.
