We collect, organize, preserve, and make available administrative records and historical materials that document the academic, professional, and social activities of the university and the surrounding community. 

The Archives & Special Collections are accessible to members of the university community, alumni, scholars and the public.  The archive is located on the Street Level of Hammond Hall, Room S03.

The Archives & Special Collections Librarian is available by appointment Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.  Evening or weekend hours can be arranged with advance notice.

Our collections include:

  • University administrative records, correspondence, and other materials.
  • Student, staff and alumni organization records, graduate theses, and faculty publications.
  • Multimedia files that document the history of the university and the local area, including photographs, slides, audio, and video. 
  • Special collections from individuals and groups of interest to scholars, students, and community members. These collections include the records of social clubs, community organizations, local historians, residents, and authors.
  • Records and other materials related to the history of Fitchburg, Massachusetts.
